Intelligent Insights

The hood monitors itself.

The Fume Hood Command Centre is a chemical-resistant touchscreen console that monitors every action and parameter in the hood, in real time.

Command Centre home screen with safety index

One number for risk.
The Safety Index scores the whole hood. No guesswork, just clarity in plain terms.

Command Centre airflow diagnostics screen

It speaks up first.
Face velocity is measured every second. If airflow runs low, it tells you what to do: lower the sash, or stop and call EHS.

AeroGuard Dynamic Airflow

What defines high performance?

SEFA definition of a High Performance Fume Hood: provides containment levels equivalent or superior to ASHRAE 110 tracer gas test ratings of AM 0.05 and AI/AU 0.10 with a face velocity of 60 FPM (0.30 m/s) or less through the fully opened sash.

Ray brings this principle to life through AeroGuard Dynamic Airflow. Its Single Pass Vortex design guides air through the hood along a controlled, aerodynamic path, minimising turbulence and improving containment. High containment. Lower airflow. Smarter energy use.

Airflow in a conventional fume hood

Conventional fume hood

  • Multiple vortex
  • Turbulent airflow
  • High pressure drop
  • 100 FPM face velocity (0.5 m/s)

“When testing with SF₆, the results were near flatline (0.00 ppm).”

“The hood is quite robust and even in the worst-case scenario of 60 FPM (0.3 m/s) at full open, the hood demonstrated remarkable containment. The exhaust plenum is well balanced left to right and top to bottom demonstrating somewhat laminar airflow and minimal turbulence.”

Significant reduction in your lab’s carbon footprint

VAV savings without a VAV system.

Research facilities are among the most energy-intensive buildings in operation, and lab ventilation can account for half of all the energy a lab uses. Lab air is continuously exhausted outdoors and replaced with conditioned make-up air. A single chemical fume hood running around the clock uses as much energy as three and a half average homes.

Conventional VAV strategies buy their savings with dampers, sash sensors, variable speed drives and controllers that must be commissioned, calibrated and maintained. Ray achieves the same containment and efficiency at low constant volume. Simpler ductwork, lower first cost, and no automation dependency between you and your reported savings.

40%

less exhaust per hood. 450 CFM on Ray versus 750 CFM on a conventional 6 ft hood.

The inspiration behind Ray

Our tribute to the father of Indian chemistry.

Ray is named after Acharya Prafulla Chandra Ray, the father of Indian chemistry. He founded India’s first modern research school in chemistry and Bengal Chemicals & Pharmaceuticals, the nation’s first pharmaceutical company. His work includes the 1896 synthesis of mercurous nitrite and over 150 research papers across inorganic, organic and applied fields. He was knighted in 1919 and honoured by the Royal Society of Chemistry with its first plaque outside Europe.

Acharya Ray pushed the boundaries of Indian chemistry through rigorous, original research. Ray the fume hood carries that same rigour into the modern lab, engineered to protect the researchers continuing his legacy.

Engineered in India. Designed for the world.
